Values Alignment Check
When something feels hollow or performative — pause and reconnect with what matters.
You might notice a quiet dissonance. On paper, things look fine. Yet something inside feels misaligned.
That discomfort is information. It often signals distance between daily action and core values.
Alignment restores energy.
The Micro-practice: Name what genuinely matters to you, then gently assess whether your time reflects it.
How:
- Spend 10 minutes identifying 3–5 values that feel personally true (creativity, autonomy, connection, integrity, growth, rest, service — whatever resonates).
- Choose one and ask: “Is my time and energy reflecting this right now?”
- If yes, acknowledge what supports it.
- If not, identify one small action that would move you slightly closer — no overhaul required.
- Notice without judgement. Awareness itself is powerful.
Time: 10 minutes.
When: When you feel flat, disconnected, or subtly out of integrity.
Why this works: When your daily actions don’t align with what you genuinely value, it creates a quiet, persistent strain on your nervous system. Your body knows when you’re living inauthentically, even if your mind is rationalising it all away. This isn’t about being positive or feeling good. It’s about integrity with yourself. By naming your values and checking the alignment, you’re creating the information you need to make different choices — or at least to understand why you’re doing what you’re doing. Small moves toward living in line with what matters can significantly reduce how much emotional energy you’re wasting on inauthenticity.
Values alignment reduces internal friction. When behaviour aligns with personal meaning, motivation and emotional steadiness increase. Small, consistent alignment builds coherence — and coherence supports sustainable contribution.
